Cultural Heritage Voyages
Heritage Tenun — exotic Komodo culture
Phinisi charters built around Indonesian maritime heritage — Bugis shipyard visits, traditional sailing lessons, heritage cuisine, village anchorages, and gamelan performances under stars. Beyond the destination, into the culture.
Sail with Indonesian Heritage
Beyond destinations, our charters offer immersion into the maritime traditions that built modern Indonesia. Visit the Bugis shipyards in Bira, sail under traditional rig, dine on heritage Indonesian cuisine, and meet the master craftsmen who hand-build our vessels.
Bira & Tana Beru Shipyard Visits
Add a 2-day extension to visit the Bugis boatyards on the southern tip of Sulawesi where every phinisi in our network was built. Watch master shipwrights at work using techniques unchanged in 400 years. Read our heritage story.
Heritage Indonesian Cuisine
On-board chef offers a Heritage Menu featuring Bugis specialties (coto Makassar, konro), Balinese ceremonial dishes (lawar, sate lilit), and Sumbawan cuisine (palu mara). Available on all multi-day charters.
Traditional Sailing Lessons
Learn to deploy phinisi sails using Bugis hand signals + traditional rope handling from our captain. 2-hour session typically run on the second day of any 5+ night charter at no extra cost.
Village Anchorages
Stop at Sumbawan and Komodo island villages off-the-tourist-route. Our captain has personal relationships with village heads — we arrange welcoming gifts + village dinners + traditional dance performances on request.
Music & Performance
Sundanese gamelan ensemble can be arranged for evening dinners on charters of 5+ nights. Local musicians transferred to vessel for one performance, returned to mainland by tender.
Marine Heritage Library
Each vessel carries a curated library on Indonesian maritime history, Bugis shipbuilding tradition, and Wallace Line biogeography. Educational PDF guides also available pre-trip for guests who want to study before sailing.
